Voranol Voractiv Polyols

Innovative Chemistry

Industry's First Catalytically Active Product Line Reduces Amine Emissions, Catalyst Handling and Processing Steps

Dow has introduced VORANOL™ VORACTIV™ polyols, a new line of catalytically active polyols that not only reduce amine emissions and catalyst handling, they save processing steps and costs along the way.

These polyols also allow flexible slab and molded foam manufacturers to eliminate or minimize their handling of amine catalysts, cut processing steps, and dramatically reduce staining-, fogging-, and odor-causing agents from their polyurethane foams.

VORANOL VORACTIV polyols are made using a proprietary and patented Dow process that grafts amine catalysts into the polyol. Dow's customers benefit from this because they can let "Dow take care of the chemistry."

For example, by eliminating or reducing processing steps, VORANOL VORACTIV polyols allow foam manufacturers to simplify their molded and flex foam production. Foams made with VORANOL VORACTIV are used in a variety of applications such as automotive seating, noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) parts, energy-absorption parts, instrument panels, headliners, carpet padding, packaging, bedding and furnishings. They can also be used for coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers (CASE) applications and in insulation for appliances, sheathing and roofing.

As mentioned earlier, manufacturers can eliminate or reduce purchases, inventory, handling, and storage of amine catalysts. At the same time, VORANOL VORACTIV polyols allow them to minimize pre-blending operations and reduce waste water disposal, plant space and equipment replacement requirements associated with amine catalysts. It's as simple as having one less raw material to deal with from an infrastructure, quality control and inventory standpoint.

VORANOL VORACTIV polyols help manufacturers provide better products. For example, these polyols provide consistent foams and offer clear advantages to flexible slab and molded foam producer. This, in turn, contributes to better overall performance of finished parts in a variety of end-uses, particularly in the bedding/furniture and automotive industries.
